Gary Collinsworth
23 February1950-17 April 2026
Gary Collinsworth, of Laurel Hill, Florida, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2026, at the age of 76.
Gary was born on February 23, 1950, in Louisiana, to the late Dub Collinsworth and Ethel Stewart Collinsworth.
A man of deep commitment and unwavering discipline, Gary dedicated 31 years of his life to serving his country in the United States Air Force, retiring with the rank of Staff Sergeant. Three decades of military service is a rare and honorable calling; one that speaks to Gary’s character, his loyalty, and his willingness to stand in the gap for others. His years in uniform reflected a life marked by duty, sacrifice, and quiet strength.
Following his retirement from the Air Force, Gary continued his service to others through civil service at Duke Field, where he worked for an additional 20 years as an aviation mechanic. In this role, he remained close to the mission he loved, ensuring the safety and readiness of those who would follow in his footsteps. His hands stayed busy, his mind sharp, and his purpose steady.
Outside of his work, Gary found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He had a deep appreciation for classic westerns; especially the timeless stories of Gunsmoke; and he was happiest when tending to his garden. Gary took great pride in growing his peppers and tomatoes, nurturing them with the same care and patience he showed in every area of his life.
But above all else, Gary’s greatest pride and deepest love was reserved for his daughter, Laci Collinsworth. She was his world. Gary devoted his life to making sure she was cared for, supported, and loved beyond measure. If Laci ever had a need, her daddy was always there; without hesitation, without question. Providing for her and standing beside her was not just something he did; it was who he was. That devotion stands as his greatest accomplishment and his most lasting legacy.
Gary’s faith in Jesus Christ was a steady anchor throughout his life, especially in his later years as he faced health challenges. He fought the good fight, he kept the faith, and he finished the race with courage and dignity.
In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his brothers, Randall Collinsworth and Lonnie Collinsworth.
He is survived by his beloved daughter, Laci Collinsworth; his sister, Karen Rogers and her husband James; and the mother of his daughter, Melissa Simmons.
A celebration of life service for Gary Collinsworth will be 2PM Thursday April 23, 2026 at Evans Funeral Home. Visitation will be 1 hour before services.
